• enables a milestone or process player type of view of the business process
• and displays the different tasks that a user needs to perform, how many user tasks have been completed and probably access to others tasks as well.
Activity Guides is very useful for 2 reasons:
• as many users might not be concerned about the full process
• and sometimes you might not want to expose all the process steps for security reasons
In general the steps to implement a Guided Business Process (Activity Guide) are the following (in jDeveloper):
1. Only one Activity Guide could be defined per project. The Activity guided is based on a BPMN process in the project.
2. Define Activity Guide: within the BMPN process select the Activity Guide node and select Configure
- a. Select Title
- b. Select the BPMN Root process to be connected to the Activity Guide
- c. Select Display Mode: select Always
- d. Select Task Access: by selecting "Active Only", the link to the task is enabled only when the task is active and the user can update it. When the task is completed, the link to the task is grayed out
3. Add a New Milestone in the Activity Guide
- a. Insert Name
- b. Select Display Mode: select Always
- c. Select number of Tasks Remaining (so that the milestone to be completed)
4. Add a User Task to a Milestone
- a. Add each User Task from the BPMN process diagram (Right click on the task and select Add to Milestone
5. Edit User Task within a Milestone
- a. Move user task to another Milestone
- b. Select user task as optional (by default users tasks are mandatory)
- c. Select number of Tasks Remaining (so that the milestone to be completed)
- d. Select Display Mode: select Always
- e. Select whether user task is the Last task in the Milestone
6. Other User Task options within a Milestone
- a. Move to Milestone
- b. Change order of User tasks within the Milestone (move up or down)
